DESCRIPTION:Beatrice Public Library "Tuesday Night with the Library"\n\n\n\nTuesday\, July 29\, 7 PM\n\n\n\nWeldon Kees' Music: 100th Birthday Celebration\n\nHelen Waring Johnson\n\n\n\nIn 1951 Kees moved to San Francisco where he began to study and play jazz piano and continued his painting.  His jobs included reviewing films for radio and writing for a theater review entitled "The Poets' Follies of 1955"\, a local hit in which Kees participated as songwriter\, actor\, and pianist.  Some of Kees' compositions include "Holiday Rag" and "Coastline Rag".\n\n\n\nHelen is a seasoned stage performer taking her shows throughout Nebraska and the Midwest singing songs from "The Great American Songbook."\n\n\n\nSponsored by the Beatrice Public Library Foundation
