DESCRIPTION:Labor Day   Extravaganza of Events at\n\nHomestead National Monument of America\n\n \n\nJoin us at Homestead National Monument of America this Labor Day weekend for the Arts and Living History Extravaganza. Events are scheduled Thursday August 28 through Monday September 1. The program is suitable for all age groups\, so bring the entire family.\n\n \n\nRise Above\, a Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit will be at the Heritage Center from 8:30-5 August 28 through September 1. The exhibit is a fully functional movie theater with a 160-degree curved screen that brings the movie to life. Rise Above shows the determination of the Tuskegee Airmen who overcame adversity of a racial period in American history. \n\n \n\nLiving history demonstrations from 10 to 2 each day at the Heritage Center. Demonstrations include Butter Making\, Cornhusk Dolls\, Button Toys\, and washing clothes.\n\n \n\nSaturday August 30 Michael Murphy will lead a flute workshop including painting a flute and learning to play it. He will also entertain the public with a concert at 10 a.m.  \n\n \n\nTake part in our Old-Fashioned Spelling Bee Monday\, September 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Freeman School. After the Spelling Bee head back up the Heritage Center for Toasted Ponies Bluegrass Band at 2:00 p.m.\n\nRemember\, Homestead National Monument of America has an exciting schedule of events planned for 2014.
