DESCRIPTION:"Reaching for the American Dream" Program to Kick Off \n\nWinter Festival of Prairie Cultures at Homestead National Monument of America\n\n \n\nGary Zabokrtsky will present the "A Czech Immigration Story" at Homestead National Monument of America's Education Center on Sunday\, November 30\, 2014 at 2 p.m.  Zabokrtsky is a retired educator and genealogist.  Over 30 years of research has led to several books being written covering 400 years of family history. \n\n \n\nZabokrtsky is a retired educator and genealogist.  Both his grandparents and great-grandparents immigrated from Bohemia which is now part of the Czech Republic and homesteaded in Nebraska.  His writings have been published in historical and genealogical newsletters including the Nebraska State Genealogical Society Ancestree magazine.\n\n \n\n"We hope you will include the monument in your Thanksgiving Weekend plans and enjoy this unique look at immigration"\, stated Superintendent Mark Engler.\n\n \n\nThe Winter Festival of Prairie Cultures exhibits will be on display in both the Education and Heritage Centers from November 28-December 31\, 2014.  These exhibits represent the many cultures who settled on the prairie as a result of the Homestead Act.\n\n \n\nRemember\, Homestead National Monument of America has an exciting schedule of events planned for 2014.
