Barnes’s presentation will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Homestead Education Center, after which he will be signing copies of his book. Barnes’s recently published book, 150@150: Nebraska’s Landmark Buildings at the State’s Sesquicentennial, is a celebration of Nebraska in its 150th anniversary of statehood. Barnes traveled throughout Nebraska to support his book which examines the architectural history of Nebraska including the earliest buildings constructed by newcomers to the territory, its most recognizable landmarks, and the newest and most dynamic structures designed by the architectural firms of today. The book is presented by the Architectural Foundation of Nebraska and the American Institute of Architects, Nebraska Chapter. Barnes’s book can be found in the Eastern National bookstores located at both the Homestead Heritage and Education centers. “We are excited to welcome Barnes to Homestead” said Homestead National Monument of America Superintendent Mark Engler. “His book examines the history of architecture in Nebraska but also provides a different perspective on how the architecture call tell the history.” Remember, Homestead National Monument of America has an exciting schedule of events planned for 2018.
