Homestead National Monument of America is pleased to announce a great line up of talented artists for Art in the Park Week, August 1-7, 2010. Each day a different artist will be featured from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the monument`s Education Center. Artists will be demonstrating woodcarving, mixed media sculpture, watercolor painting, drawing with pencils and pastels, and weaving. Visitors will be able to watch the artist, ask questions, learn about their techniques and possibly try their own hand at the art.

Judy Thompson, a watercolor painter from Orange City, Iowa, and the monument`s third Artist-in-Residence of 2010, will be here August 1-14, 2010. She will lead two workshops during Art in the Park Week. The first will be about the basics of watercolor on Thursday, August 5. The second workshop will be about how to create a successful painting on Saturday, August 7. Both workshops will begin at 1 p.m. at the monument`s Education Center.
