The Beatrice Children's Theatre is celebrating its Twentieth year with a production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka Jr. Featuring Dahl's most famous character, candy maker extrordinaire Willie Wonka, the musical tells the story of his search for a replacement candy maker by hiding golden tickets in his famous candy bars. Those who find the tickets win tours through Wonka's magical candy factory. Among the winners is the hero of the story, Charlie, a boy from a poor, eccentric but loving family. Charlie's search for the elusive ticket and the adventure which follows is told in a new version of the play with music taken from the hit 1971 movie and featuring the hit song "The Candy Man." Also present are Dahl's famous misbehaved children and those unusual Ooompa Loompas who sing about some important lessons for living well. Box Office will be open Monday, July 21 thru Friday, July 25 and Monday, July 28 to Wednesday July 30 from 6 pm to 9 pm. The box office is also open 1 hour before each performance. Performance times are Thursday, July 31, Friday and Saturday, August 1 & 2 at 7:30pm, and Saturday, Aug. 2 and Sunday, August 3 at 2:00 in the afternoon.
