In celebration of our 75th anniversary as a National Park Service site, Homestead National Monument of America is excited to start the year with a ?Celebrate Your National Parks? Film Festival at the Education Center at 2 pm on Sundays, January 16, 23, & 30, and February 6, 2011. For this film festival, Homestead will be showing official films from other National Park Service sites in the region, such as Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in Kansas, Pipestone National Monument in Minnesota, Scottsbluff National Monument in Nebraska, and Herbert Hoover National Historic Site in Iowa. Films are appropriate for people of all ages.
On January 16, visitors will enjoy films from National Park Service sites from Nebraska and Minnesota - Scottsbluff National Monument, Agate Fossil Beds National Monument, and Pipestone National Monument. Films from Kansas will be featured on January 23 - Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, Brown vs. Board of Education National Historic Site, Fort Larned National Historic Site, and Fort Scott National Historic Site. January 30 will feature films from South Dakota - Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, and Jewel Cave National Monument. ?Homestead was established as a National Park Service site in 1936, 75 years ago. We want to encourage people to visit Homestead again and again while also venturing out and visiting other National Park Service sites in their backyard,? stated Mark Engler, Superintendent of Homestead National Monument of America.
