The Beatrice Public Library is hosting acclaimed Celtic fingerstyle guitarist Jerry Barlow for special concert May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Library, 100 N. 16th St.
The performance is free to the public. Funding is provided by the Beatrice Public Library Foundation.
Barlow's unique and skillfully delivered repertoire incorporates favorite traditional pieces as well as his own Celtic-inspired compositions. His expressive arrangements of lively jigs, spirited reels, and haunting airs have been described as music to soothe the soul, warm the heart, and lift the spirit.
In concert, Jerry brings traditional Celtic tunes alive by sharing the history, humor, and legends behind the music.
Barlow’s latest CD, Fields and Fences, was released in October 2011. Songs from all three of his CDs have been featured in PBS documentaries and Landlocked Films features.
Barlow’s music can be heard regularly on many National Public radio stations. He has been featured in Fingerstyle Guitar magazine, and was profiled in the February 2012 issue of Celtic Connection.
