Free Summer Fun
Children of all ages and their families are invited to investigate nature with Park Rangers at the Park's Education Center. These free programs run from 10:00 am - Noon and reservations are not necessary. Sunscreen and closed toe shoes are encouraged.
July 7 Prairie Plant Prowl Prowl the tallgrass prairie with the Park Rangers. Look very closely at the plant life and learn tips along the way about basic plant identification.
July 14 Beginning Birding Observe along the trails our feathered friends of all shapes, sizes and behaviors. Learn to use these clues for basic bird identification.
July 21 Creek Critters Ever wonder what's living in the mud in Cub Creek? Park Rangers will bring the creek to you so you can find out! Learn how these creek critters can indicate the health of creeks and ponds.
July 28 Beetle Mania Calling all bug hunters! Your help is needed to help discover beetles found in the tallgrass prairie. Plan on catching all kinds of insects in this fun beetle study.
Aug 4 Nature Discovery Tour Explore with the Park Rangers and become nature detectives! Investigate clues left along the trails at Homestead. Use these clues to figure out what hidden wildlife surrounds us.
