Hedge Apple Festival at Homestead National Monument
Let the Games Begin!
Let the Hedge Apple games begin! Join park rangers at Homestead National Monument of America on Sunday, October 5 from 2-4 p.m. to have fun with hedge apples at the Hedge Apple Festival! All are invited to participate in a hedge apple craft contest at 2 p.m. at the Heritage Center. See who creates the most exciting and unique creation using the provided hedge apples and craft supplies. Next, kids and visitors of all ages can participate in the Homestead Hedge Apple “Olympics,” a series of fun activities outside near the Palmer-Epard Cabin. Games will include a hedge apple on a spoon race, hedge apple bucket toss, and hedge apple bowling! The festival is free.
“This event highlights the monument’s Osage orange hedgerow which is a key piece of the historic landscape. It also gives us all a chance to be creative and have some fun!” said Superintendent Mark Engler.
