Prairie Appreciation Week September 25 - October 2 is a great time to see the splendid fall color at Homestead National Monument of America. During Prairie Appreciation Week several events are planned to help visitors learn more about the prairie.
On Saturday, September 25 come help monitor the size of the deer herd at Homestead. Show up at 9:30 a.m. for an orientation.
On Sunday, September 26 at 1 p.m. Sarah Rehme will be presenting findings from a two year bird study that she conducted at Homestead NM of America.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 26 join expert tallgrass prairie botanist Kent Pfeiffer to explore the plant diversity of Homestead NM of America and learn more about this unique ecosystem.
On Saturday, October 2 at 9:30 a.m. join Resource Manager, Jesse Bolli to harvest native prairie plant seed.
All events will start at the Education Center.
