You Are Invited to a Star Party at
Homestead National Monument of America
Join the Prairie Astronomy Club on February 21, 2014, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for a Star Party at Homestead National Monument of America’s Heritage Center. Look at the night skies with several astronomers through their telescopes. Only have 30 minutes? No problem, stay as long as long or as little as you like to look at the stars and learn about galaxies, nebulas, and planets.
Founded in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1961, the Prairie Astronomy Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the study of Astronomy and related subjects, benefitting its members and the public. Superintendent Mark Engler stated, “The members of the club are very passionate about reaching the public through outreach events like this one to share their love of astronomy and space. We appreciate them sharing their passion with our visitors.”
On the evening of February 21, the Andromeda Galaxy will be visible to the naked eye. The Great Orion Nebula, the bands and moons of Jupiter, and many star clusters can also be seen.
