FHSI is a non-profit organization that provides WIC services and Family Planning services to the Beatrice area. We hold clinics for each service on designated days each month. WIC is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children that provides federal grants to states for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. Referrals are not needed for this program. Family Planning is a grant funded program that offers reproductive health services to women and men on a fee scale based on income. Reproductive health services are a basic human right and we offer well women exams, cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, birth control methods, pregnancy testing and counseling, and minor female or male sexual health problem visits. Our agency also provides community health education services for free to any organization that is interested. Our health educator can speak on any topic, but common presentations are healthy relationships, safe sex, sex trafficking and sexual coercion, sexually transmitted infections, and common birth control methods.
